The magnificent view from our hotel room. The Hotel de la Sage is run by the friendly bi-lingual husband and wife team of Nathanaël and Pritee Barbey. They took up the challenge of returning this turn-off the century (20th not 21st) establishment to its former glory some 4 years ago and have done a very sympathetic renovation. They now have a number of rooms with shared bathrooms, as well, as well-equppied and spacious rooms with attached bathrooms at very reasonable prices. Their 3-course dinner menu of fresh salad, a slightly spicy vegetable curry and warm apple crumble with home-made ice-cream is highly-recommended and well-worth CHF 34.
La Sage which is on a sunny shelf above Val d'Hérens is a great jumping off point for various hiking routes in the summer leading to Val de Moiry, and various winter sport options (downhill skiing, snow-shoeing and ski-mountaineering).
