Belalp above Brig, Canton Valais

We were meant to spend the weekend in Belalp. Sadly both of us came down with flu. Our friends still managed to get up there for the weekend and raved about the views, and the hikes.

Views:

Just everything!!! - Aletschhorm, Dom, Matterhorn, Grand Combin and even Mt.Blanc massif.

Hikes:

1. 4-5 hour hike upto Oberaletsch hut to enjoy the high mountains and glaciers around you. Contact 027 927 17 67 or 079 221 05 86 info@oberaletsch.ch

2. 900 metres ascent upto the Sparrhorn (3,021m) - there is a chairlift which cuts 600 metres of the ascent.

3. New suspension bridge (opened in 2008) linking Riederalp and Belalp across the Massa Gorge which is just below the Aletsch glacier. Here's a picture: http://www.brig-tourismus.ch/wandern/haengebruecke.php

4. Aletsch panorama walk from Belalp to Fiescheralp - not certain if this goes across the suspension bridge. Map for this hike can be found at:http://map.wanderland.ch/?lang=en&route=39

We'll definitely be going up there the first free weekend we have. Keeping our fingers crossed that we will have the same stunning weather, and hence, views as they had!
