The Auberge de Pont-de-Nant is a great starting place for the Tour des Muverans. It is pretty easy to get to by public transport (Bex station on the main line, followed by a bus ride upto Plan-sur-Bex and then a short 30 mins hike up to the Auberge); has funky double rooms or a huge dormitory and very good food (both dinners and breakfast). Double room are CHF 40 per person which includes breakfast or CHF 70 for the demi-pension. Dormitory mattresses are CHF 20 per person. From the Auberge there are great walks westwards into the Vallon de Nant (see above). Eastwards you head towards Pas de Cheville, for the harder hikers, you can head directly southwards and over the shoulder of the Grand Mauvern to Cabane Rambert above Ovronnaz in Valais.
We haven't been there for a while, just writing about this place makes me want to go there this summer!
