From the small, picturesque village of Chateau d'Oex you head to the north west. Initially the route is on farm roads heading out of the village, but soon turns to a wide track that steepens when it enters a forest.
We took a diversion off the route and ended up at a very small private cabane with wonderful views of the Pays-d'Enhaut.
The route continues on uphill, with pastures succeeding forest and the route narrowing to a footpath which continues via sweeping switch-backs towards the ridge line. From the ridge the descent is steep with path-finding difficult and risk of ankle-twisting a real possibility - take care. After what feels like a life-time, but is in reality less than 30 minutes, one emerges onto a wide farm track. The descent to Lessoc from here is straight forward though rather long.
